about

Scandinavians and Sean Filkins in Mexico:
This is a big one for us, Pasi composed what is clearly a killer track. He played to a Latin drum pattern and sent it to Colin, who studied it well. Colin was on the lookout for any really strange changes and there were none. Colin called Petri to discuss Pasi. He was worried that Pasi had become like normal people. They were very fearful because if that happened, they would be finished. As opposed to Finnish. Pasi had sent Petri something totally insane the same day, so Petri put my mind at rest that all was well.

Colin can't do a Santana impression but he can do an impression of someone who CAN do a Santana impression. So he did that for about five (5) minutes and sent it on to Petri, who played some Latin/Thrash/Boogie Bass. Oddly enough, he didn't keep changing his sound every 90 seconds either. It was going SO well until Rob got hold of it. Once in the studio with Trusty Rusty the drum tech, they recorded enough drumming to sacrifice a soul. Twice! Colin had been talking to Vic Porcnob (Unified Past), who said he loves a bit of Mexican food with his prog and it was decided to let him loose on percussion too. The drum files piled up and up!

At about this time, Sean Filkins was in a studio, struggling with Lisa (That's another story) and heard what we pro's call a "crap mix" of our Mexican chili dance. The cheeky sod dumped Lisa and started shaking and hitting things in a Mexican fashion, sung weird words, recorded it all and sent us the files, demanding to be in our new Stoned Sultana band.
So we had rather a lot of drums and percussion. Now we know that most of you reading this have probably mixed a Santana album in the past but we hadn't. Feel free to criticize. It is the first track allowed out there before the album Release.

about

Corvus Stone Helsinki, Finland

I love music. I hate music by numbers. If there is one album I consider to be a template of how to do things, The Beatles White album would be it.
